Children

Welcome to Parkway Baptist Church Kid’s Way Children’s Ministry. Our ministry’s purpose is to minister to parents and children here in our church and community.

The mission and vision of our Kid’s Way Children’s Ministry is to partner with families in leading children in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, so that they in turn will grow to have a desire to want to share Christ’s love with others (Matthew 28:19).

We hope to accomplish this by having leaders in our ministry that have a heart for children and understand the impact they have on the future generation and to understand God’s purpose while offering quality teaching.

In Deuteronomy 6:1-2, 6-9 we are reminded that parents you have an awesome responsibility to your children and that you are their primary spiritual teacher. We want to come along side you and help give you the resources you will need to help your child have a firm foundation and a personal relationship with Christ Jesus.

Partnering with Parents

Our Ministry Goals for Elementary:

  • To provide a ministry of excellence that honors God! Excellence is the skeletal structure upon which we build all else. Everything that we do as a ministry, we should follow the principle that is found in Ecclesiastes 9:10 “…whatever your hand findeth to do, do it with all your might.”
  • To partner with parents in leading their children in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • To provide a safe, secure and loving environment for children where parents feel comfortable leaving their child.
  • To help children feel a warm sense of belonging to their church family and to insure that each child feels welcomed, loved, and accepted as they grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord.
  • For each child to know that there is one God, one Savior and one Lord and that a personal relationship with him gives meaning to life.
  • To aid children in accepting Jesus Christ as the Holy Spirit convicts, training them to serve God, and helping them develop a dynamic relationship with Him.
  • To help each child develop a lifestyle that is built on his/her relationship with Jesus Christ that goes beyond their Sunday and Wednesday classroom experience.
  • To help each child understand that God’s Word (the Bible) is relevant and that growth in Bible knowledge results in positive changes in attitudes, actions and lifestyle.
  • To help the child grow in his/her relationships with other believers and with his/her unchurched friends.
  • To support the family in their responsibility for the spiritual nurturing and growth of their child.
  • To provide Godly men and women who are adequately trained to serve as positive role models while they minister to children.

Vacation Bible School

At the International Spy Academy, excitement and adventure abound from the first minute of each day when kids meet in their Truth Force teams. The teams gather at the Agents’ Assembly for the opening assembly, a high-energy beginning that includes wacky intros, lively songs, a missions moment, and prayer. Teams then rotate through four fun sites:

• ISA Headquarters, where God’s Word is taught in hands on ways;

• Agent-in-Action Games, where training challenges of the utmost fun are mastered;

• Top Secret Snacks, where top level treats vanish in a hurry;

• Classified Crafts, where agents-in-training engage in hands-on crafting.

After training and mission assignments are completed, agents regroup for the closing assembly, which includes more singing, contest results, Get a Clue about God time, and the highly anticipated daily drama. The drama is set in a European city that has drifted away from following the one true God. The Truth Force is sent in to expose the truth about God and the country’s godly heritage. Agents Jess, Dresden, and Casey find foes in unlikely places as their assignment takes unexpected twists and turns. All this adds up to a week filled with high impact. Ready, special agents? The world awaits!

Secure Procedures

We Offer a Secure Preschool.

When dropping your child off:

Before dropping your child off, be sure you have brought the necessary items and label each item that belongs to your child.

(When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items: Two or three disposable diapers. A complete change of clothes. A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)

At the door of your child’s classroom a worker will meet you to receive your child.

There will be a Two Part Security Label. Please fill out the label completely and place right side of label on child’s back before child enters the class room. Left side of label should be placed on the parents or guardian that will be picking your child up. Pagers are given to parents of 0-3 year olds. Please write your pager number on the label.

If needed, pagers are offered to visitors from 4-5 year olds. Please write your pager number on the label. (If you have multiple kids this age, only one pager is needed.)

When picking your child up

When you pick up your child, a classroom worker will meet you at the door to return your child. To receive your child, you will need to return the parental label and pagers to the appropriate classrooms before receiving the child. (If you misplace your label a coordinator will be at the welcome table to assist you.

Children will not be returned to any person under the age of 14. If you have a special request in this regard, please talk to Graceann Preschool Director.

Come Prepared

How to come with your preschooler prepared:

Please bring babies with a dry diaper and a full tummy.

Follow our safety procedure by knocking on the nursery door and waiting for a staff volunteer to assist you.

If you would like to look in on your child at any time, there is a window on the door. Please use your best judgment to avoid upsetting a child who misses mommy and daddy.

If your pager should “beep” or “vibrate”, promptly return to the preschool area. A beeping sound indicates a low battery that can be replaced. A vibrating pager indicates a desire for a volunteer to speak with you.

Health & Safety

A Caring Preschool

Our classrooms are staffed with caring volunteers that will assist you and provide a nurturing environment for your child.

A Healthy Preschool

We follow certain procedures to assure our preschool area is a healthy environment for our workers and our children. Workers and children wash hands regularly. Also, toys and equipment is disinfected on a regular basis.

The following are some ways you can assist us in maintaining a healthy nursery:

Allergies:

If your child has any allergies that we should be aware of, please inform a preschool leader to have it recorded. Relevant allergies are noted on your child’s name tag. If the class is participating in an activity or having a snack other than cheerios or gold fish, it will be noted by a sign on the door.

Sicknesses:

If your child is showing any of the following symptoms, we will be unable to provide childcare due to the risk of other children becoming infected.

  • Fever-Currently or within the previous 24 hours.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea-within 24 hours
  • Common cold-from onset through one week.
  • Runny nose with yellow/greenish discharge.
  • Sore throat.
  • Croup.
  • Any unexplained rash.
  • Any symptom of childhood disease (i. e. scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, strep throat, flu, etc. or any infectious or contagious disease).
  • Fifth disease.
  • Any skin infection-impetigo, boils, ringworm.
  • Eye infection-pink eye or drainage (All eye infections are contagious. The child must be on medication for 24 hours before entering the classroom.)
  • Persistent cough.
  • Any communicable disease.

If your child develops any of these symptoms/conditions while in our care, we will notify you immediately.
