Secure Procedures
We Offer a Secure Preschool
When dropping your child off:
Before dropping your child off, be sure you have brought the necessary items and label each item that belongs to your child.
(When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items: Two or three disposable diapers. A complete change of clothes. A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)
At the door of your child’s classroom a worker will meet you to receive your child.
There will be a Two Part Security Label. Please fill out the label completely and place right side of label on child’s back before child enters the class room. Left side of label should be placed on the parents or guardian that will be picking your child up. Pagers are given to parents of 0-3 year olds. Please write your pager number on the label.
If needed, pagers are offered to visitors from 4-5 year olds. Please write your pager number on the label. (If you have multiple kids this age, only one pager is needed.)
When picking your child up
When you pick up your child, a classroom worker will meet you at the door to return your child. To receive your child, you will need to return the parental label and pagers to the appropriate classrooms before receiving the child. (If you misplace your label a coordinator will be at the welcome table to assist you.
Children will not be returned to any person under the age of 14. If you have a special request in this regard, please talk to Graceann Preschool Director.

Come Prepared
How to come with your preschooler prepared:
Please bring babies with a dry diaper and a full tummy.
Follow our safety procedure by knocking on the nursery door and waiting for a staff volunteer to assist you.
If you would like to look in on your child at any time, there is a window on the door. Please use your best judgment to avoid upsetting a child who misses mommy and daddy.
If your pager should “beep” or “vibrate”, promptly return to the preschool area. A beeping sound indicates a low battery that can be replaced. A vibrating pager indicates a desire for a volunteer to speak with you.

Health & Safety
A Caring Preschool
Our classrooms are staffed with caring volunteers that will assist you and provide a nurturing environment for your child.
A Healthy Preschool
We follow certain procedures to assure our preschool area is a healthy environment for our workers and our children. Workers and children wash hands regularly. Also, toys and equipment is disinfected on a regular basis.
The following are some ways you can assist us in maintaining a healthy nursery:
Allergies:
If your child has any allergies that we should be aware of, please inform a preschool leader to have it recorded. Relevant allergies are noted on your child’s name tag. If the class is participating in an activity or having a snack other than cheerios or gold fish, it will be noted by a sign on the door.
Sicknesses:
If your child is showing any of the following symptoms, we will be unable to provide childcare due to the risk of other children becoming infected.
- Fever-Currently or within the previous 24 hours.
- Vomiting or diarrhea-within 24 hours
- Common cold-from onset through one week.
- Runny nose with yellow/greenish discharge.
- Sore throat.
- Croup.
- Any unexplained rash.
- Any symptom of childhood disease (i. e. scarlet fever, measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, strep throat, flu, etc. or any infectious or contagious disease).

- Eye infection-pink eye or drainage (All eye infections are contagious. The child must be on medication for 24 hours before entering the classroom.)
